Winter Skincare

Beautiful natural looking young smiling brunette woman, wearing knitted scarf, covered with snow flakes. Snowing winter beauty concept.

We all know that we shouldn’t be lazy with our skincare regime during winter, yet every year when the colder months come around, the exfoliating and cleansing routine we were so dedicated to during the summer seems to gradually come to a halt. It’s probably because you’re not looking at your skin when its covered in a ton of layers, so you don’t see the point. However, we think you have even more reason to take care of your skin.

We’ll set the scene…

It’s a cold, grey and wet Monday morning, the last thing you want to do is get out of bed but you know you have to. So you eventually (after hitting snooze on your alarm a good couple times) get up to start the day. Now, wouldn’t it be nicer to look in the mirror as you’re about to start getting ready and see a radiant, fresh-face looking back at you, instead of a dull, lack-lustre one? Absolutely.

So here’s a few tips to keep in mind for your winter skincare routine.

GSR™: Getting skin ready

ZO Skin Health’s first objective to achieving healthy skin is cleansingscrubbing and oil-controlThese steps enable the skin to function properly, tolerating all daily exposure and activities.

Correction

You can correct and restore the surface texture of your skin through exfoliation, as exfoliating promotes skin-cell turnover and avoids a build up of dead skin-cells to allow your look it’s freshest.

SPF

Remember to ensure that your daily primer or cream has SPF such as the ZO Oclipse Sunscreen + Primer in SPF30 to protect your skin, as UV rays can still damage your skin even in winter.

Stabilization

As the temperatures drop, and indoor-heating rises, you will probably start to see it have an effect on your skin, making it dull and lack-lustre.  So after you’ve cleansed your face, it’s essential that you strengthen your skin and restore normal hydration to it. ZO’s Ossential Daily Power Defense is the perfect serum as it introduces DNA repair enzymes to speed up the skin’s natural mechanism to repair DNA damage and protect against future oxidative damage. In addition to  providing antioxidant protection to combat free radical damage and restoring the skin barrier system. If you have just showered, take note that there’s a 3 minute period when your skin can get the optimum benefits from your cream or serum.

Diet

During the summer you’re constantly drinking water because of the warmer weather but in the winter it’s still just as important to keep yourself hydrated as without it, it doesn’tmatter how good your skincare routine is, your skin will just not look healthy and fresh. Alongside a healthy supply of water, your body also needs as good a diet as ever, so avoid the comfort foods and stick to healthy alternatives.
